Department of Computer Science & Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established at IES College of Technology in the year 2007 and B.E. degree course for 4 years was started under affiliation from Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal. Seeing overwhelming response from students due to outstanding results achieved by the Department, college introduced M.Tech. degree courses in Computer Science & Engineering in 2011. The department is one of the pioneer departments in the college. The long list of achievements include organization of research conferences, programming contests, personal accomplishment attained by the students, etc. The achievements are imprint of efficiency and dedication of the department towards achieving higher standard of education and organizational goals. The Department has an organizational structure that can respond dynamically to the evolution in Information Technology, and its research fields are closely related. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is unique and it promotes wide range of research on Information and Intelligence Technology, Basic and Applied Technology, etc.

Mission of the Department

  1. To provide appropriate facilities and environment for the effective teaching-learning process.

  2. To ensure the availability of intellectual assets in terms of qualified faculty committed to developing competent students.

  3. To put in dedicated efforts for inculcating software skills in the students through programming, workshop, expert lectures and Industry- Institute interactions.

  4. To enhance employability by providing extracurricular and co-curricular activities to inculcating professionalism and ethical values.
  5. To motivate the students competent for higher studies and Entrepreneurship.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO 1: Develop Graduates in computer engineering who can become software professionals to satisfy the needs of the IT Companies, research academia and society at large.

PEO 2: Develop Graduates as computing professionals who can conduct research and/or lead, designing, developing or maintaining projects in various areas of Computer science and engineering.

PEO 3: Develop Graduates who will engage in lifelong learning and professional development to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment with a sense of ethical responsibility.

 

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

PSO-1: Provide solution, design and development of web based software application using open source technology.

PSO-2: Solve the problem of society in relevance to security issues by applying the concept of network and cyber security.

PSO-3: Provide solution of hardware and software related problems to maintain the operations of a computer system.

Program outcomes (POs)

PO-1: Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO-2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO-3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO-4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO-5: : Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO-6: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO-7: Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO-8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
PO-9: Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO-10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO-11: Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
PO-12: Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.


Prof. (Dr.) Nikhat Raza Khan

Head of the Department 

Dr. Nikhat Raza Khan is an Associate Professor and Head of Department of Computer Science Engineering at IES College of Technology, Bhopal. She received her M. Tech degree in 2009 from MANIT, Bhopal, and she earned her Ph.D. degree in 2018, from Mewar University, Rajasthan. She is a compassionate and dynamic leader with a tenacious focus on systems, processes, timelines, and quality.

She has a rich academic experience spread over 17 years, with her core focus area being R& D. She has an active research profile with numerous publications, memberships and participations in conferences/workshops. Her areas of research include Adhoc Networks, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Data Science, Big data analytics. With a great amount of zeal and enterprise Dr. Khan has processed, synthesized, synchronized   different data base and documented them by publishing 35 SCI/SCOPUS /UGC approved Journals, scientific papers on various themes of computer Science in various international and national journals. In addition, she has the credit of supervising and guiding more than 60 M. Tech/B.Tech students in their projects and research works.

Dr. Khan is an extremely motivated personality with an unwavering commitment to results and outcome. She received the “Shining Star Award” In the field of education, organized by All India Women’s Club in the month of September 2016. She is also a recipient of “Best Women Researcher Award” (Computer Division) in RSRI conference on “Recent trends in Science and Engineering” organized by REST Society for Research International and Human Resource Development Cell, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.

She attended and delivered many expert lectures and keynote addresses at various seminars, the prominent among them being “ICAAAIML-2020: International Conference on Advances and Applications of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning”, Dept. of CSE at Sharda University, Grater Noida.

  • 2 days National Seminar on “Industry - 4.0” dated 21 and 22 Jan 2020, Under TEQIPIII, RGPV, Grant Sanctioned – 1,17,000/- as a Program Coordinator
